Did you know that God wants you to seek prosperity, but not necessarily for yourself?
Let us understand what prosperity actually is. According to several studies it may mean: plenty, wealth, security, health, comfort, “the good life,” flourishing and good fortune.
Psalm 122:9 says, “For the sake of the house of the Lord, our God, I will seek Your prosperity.” (NIV)
Many times we hear it taught that God wants you to be wealthy to have anything your heart desires. After all…Abraham was wealthy. And look at King David and Solomon. Are these men the exception to the rule or should we all be like these men?
Yes, God wants us to prosper…but it is “for the sake of the House of the Lord our God.”
I do believe in prosperity, but not for self gratification alone. God blesses us, so we can bless others. “Give and it shall be given unto you.”
How many times we hear of people who became millionaires only to lose it all? Did these people invest their wealth into the Kingdom, in the “House of the Lord,” or did they just want to have an easy life with lots of material blessings?
One reason God prospers us is for us to love the Jewish people. Psalm 122:6 says, “May all who love Jerusalem prosper.”
You can be sure all nations who oppose Israel will be opposed by God and will not prosper.
I believe that God is more anxious to give us His prosperous blessings than we are able to receive them. Did He not say in Romans 8:32 that “He freely will give us all things to enjoy?” Do you think He means it? I do. We are the ones that have trouble receiving all He has for us.
Sometimes there are conditions we need to keep in order for Him to pour out the blessings on us. God wants us to meditate on His word day and night and keep His word in fulfillment on a daily basis as He instructed Joshua. Then we will prosper and have good success, so we can bless others. (Joshua 1:8)
God intends for us to be wealthy in our spirits and hearts…then we are truly blessed.
Here we have a picture of a truly blessed heart with the “jewels” of His presence.
I hear Jesus say, “Follow Me in all My ways and I will surprise you at every corner of your journey. I will pour My riches into you that are lasting and sweet. And when you give these away I will reimburse you abundantly. You can never out give My grace and blessings. This is all because I love you.”
