Did you know that your words can produce life…or death?
My young artist friend and I went shopping at a place where once a week almost every piece of used clothing goes on sale for one dollar. Yes, one dollar. If you are not too prideful you can find some absolutely great deals by rummaging through the clothes on the racks. You can imagine that the place is very packed with customers.
My friend and I had found some really cute stuff and were secretly thanking God for the great deals He had showered on us.
I talked several times to one of the ladies in charge who was obviously not happy with her job of helping this mob of people. She had a frown and was very curt with her answers.
When it came time to check out I decided to be very kind and sympathetic with her. I commented on how patient she was and agreed with her that it was a hectic day. We encouraged her as much as we could.
Immediately, she reversed her mood and became kind and commented on our good finds; her countenance began to change. “You come back now, and have a wonderful day,” she said. My friend and I looked at each other in unbelief. Truly, “A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples on a silver tray.” Proverbs 25:11
It was a transformation right before our eyes and we knew it; it made our day special.
Of course, the opposite is very true as well. How often do we meet people who think so little of themselves because they have been abused with words that made them believe what they were cursed with.
We ourselves have the power of life in our mouths just like Jesus Who created life with the power of His words as well, for “…as He is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
Let us be creators of life, joy and peace by blessing our neighbors, friends and family with words of greatness for them.
When my youngest grandchild Elizabeth was born she had a heart defect. When her mom and dad told her middle twin sister about the baby’s heart, she spoke healing to her sister by drawing a picture on a scrap of paper (see below), saying that God with His needle would make her baby sister all better.
I hear Jesus say, “My desire is that you will allow Me to speak words of authority, power and healing over you, and that you by faith will receive them into your innermost being, for I daily want to bless you with My words of Life.”
