Do you like beautiful and fragrant roses?
I do. We have several rose bushes in our garden. Sometimes I open our back door and I am almost taken aback with the fragrance. It elevates me into a joyful spirit.
When you study one of these roses up close, you will be amazed at how God created these gorgeous perennials. Sad to say, the flowers of these bushes are short-lived and die very quickly.
That is the way it can be with all our earthly greatness–we blossom for a bit and look very attractive; then before long our efforts drop and fall to the ground to be trodden on and wasted.
Wouldn’t you love to be as beautiful as a rose and spread your fragrance all over this world? You can…”for as He is so are you.” (1 John4:17) He is the Rose of Sharon and you are unique, patterned after Him. No matter where you are in your Christian life, you are His inheritance and He is your Father.)
Sometimes the roses need to be trimmed, trained, or even cut back. We all know that this process hurts, for we’d rather keep going the way we are and not have anybody touch us, let alone trim and cut us.
If the roses do not get the proper nutrition and plenty of water, they will dry up like the wilderness. Bugs, aphids and all sorts of diseases will attack them. But, the roses will be happy as young children when they are fed and nourished.
I am sure you get the picture here. Keep yourself under the care of the one and only Gardener, the Lord Jesus, for He has planted you in His garden. Have Him nourish you with the water of the word and bring forth your blossoms and fruit with His care. At the same time, let Him dig up anything that is questionable and not pure. It will make you a sweet-smelling instrument that He can use in the garden of this world. Let Him remove the thorns from your life; people will then be able to touch or even hurt you without you hurting them back. He wants you to be His rose garden!
Isaiah 51:3: “…He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.”
We have a picture here of some pink roses, drawn by yours truly. I hear the Lord say, “My care and training in your life will bring an avalanche of blessings you will find hard to contain. You are in a period in your life where I desire for you to yield to My handiwork and sometimes bitter probing. Do not squirm or run away from this process, but rather yield. It is out of My heart that I am deeply caring for you, for I love you. Blossom where I have planted you. Your fragrance is sweet to My nostrils”

Drawn by God
This devotional book has 52 short chapters and 176 pages. Each chapter starts with a question, has a biblical background scripture that is appropriate for the title of the chapter and then discusses the answer to that query through the eyes of the author’s vision of God. The chapter ends with a prophetic word from Jesus’ heart saying “I hear Jesus say…” Every chapter ends with a drawing by the author or an inspired artist who knows Jesus intimately.
The book will make you hungry to know more of Who God is and answers questions like, “Does He really care about the small stuff in my life? How can I give Him first place when I feel like I am losing it and I feel He does not love me anymore? Do we need conflict in our life? What about generational blessings? How far will He go with me? What about impossible situations? How do I ever attain to living a life that is bathed in God’s rest?”
The book also shares personal examples of how the author faced tremendous difficulties in her own life. How in her youth during the war in Holland they were hiding Jews right under the nose of the Nazis who occupied a castle next door. The pain she experienced in her broken youth when she felt like no-one even realized she was around. How God became her Father and her Mother when she herself was just a young mother, longing to be free from much bondage.
The book is based on spontaneous prophetic art and how God wants to speak to each one of us not only through His precious word, but through anything that comes our way
Spontaneous Prophetic art is practiced in some churches where the artist steps forward as the worship starts and asks God for a spontaneous picture for the congregation. After the worship, the artist explains the meaning of the picture and shares what she or he senses God wants to say to the people at that point in time.
Most of us have heard the maxim, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” We may try a hundred word-related ways to comprehend a truth, but somehow, pictures engrave the heart. When the picture matches the words well, the reader is more deeply impacted.
Each devotional highlights an aspect of life – a challenge, a question, an irritation, a potential decision – and offers biblical truths in a practical, encouraging voice. See sight panel how to obtain this reviving book. Orders outside the USA pleas pay an extra $5 for shipping by air.
