Have you ever wondered why some families are tremendously blessed, and others seem to struggle most of the time?

My husband David is always deeply engaged at his work. God has blessed him with an abundance of production work, he builds iron gates, fences, things like that. The other day he was very pressed to get a project finished and still had hours of work ahead of him. Someone knocked on our door and David sensed that the visitor needed to talk, so without any hesitation Dave seated himself next to his visitor and talked to this individual for hours, intently listening as if he had all the time in the world.

Meanwhile, I paced back and forth hoping the man would just leave my husband alone. David had so much work to do, and here someone was interfering with his industry and work. How dare they do that? Then Holy Spirit came to me with conviction, and I realized how deeply blessed I am to be with a man that is not driven like myself. I was compelled to repent for my impatience and bulldozing attitude. The Lord reminded me of my husband’s namesake, King David, who was called a man after God’s heart and who lived parts of his life being driven from place to place, chased by King Saul who wanted to kill him. He lived on the run to stay away from Saul, and yet he seemed totally at peace in his heart, undisturbed and patiently waiting on the Lord to fulfill His promises. The Lord has promised to those who love Him that He will show His love to a thousand generations.Exodus 20:5,6 ( NIV) 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations ( italics mine) of those who love me and keep my commandments”.”

In the case of King David, many kings after him – even for hundreds of years – were blessed because of David’s life. God even defended the city hundreds of years after David was deceased because of His love for him.Our children and grandchildren will be blessed according to the life we now live up to a thousand generations. How awesome is that?

This picture was drawn by an artist in our church who was at that time thirteen.

Here we have a picture of a blessed and happy child who is reaping the benefits of God’s blessings because of parental and great- parental influences in his life. I hear Jesus say:” As you sow kindness and love in your life you will reap more benefits, betterment and assets in your life than you will be able to hold in your heart. Your heart will indeed overflow with my goodness as it passes before you.”
