Have you ever felt paralyzed by doubt? Or maybe you are caught in some kind of unbelief or worried by questions?
The one thing the Lord does demand, is that we know where we stand in Him, and that in our hearts we have a deep assurance and confidence in Him who never has doubts in any form. He loves it when we know what ground we stand on, and on Whom we have our feet planted.
A doubtful people is a people who go around in circles and are neutralized, people who do not have an all- consuming drive to go hard after God. It was so with the people of old, in Bible times. They knew who God was, but did not know and trust Him so they were doubtful as to how and when God would take care of them; consequently they became suspicious and undecided. The Bible calls that being ” double minded”. We read in James 1:8: “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” We often wonder why God does not seem to hear us. Could it be that we have doubt and unbelief in our hearts? James 1:6-7 says:” But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” (KJV)
The enemy often causes us to feel that our circumstances are greater than God. We are incapacitated if the enemy succeeds in turning us inward on ourselves and our problems. We soon dissipate and give up the good fight of faith.
Perhaps we are hanging on to some secret sin, or a questionable habit: something we have been accused of over and over, till doubt about who we are overwhelms us and we succumb to a life of fear and doubt. The enemy dreads a people who fight the good fight of faith: a people girded for battle and on their feet to fight doubt and unbelief.
We have a picture here drawn by an eleven year old artist. It is a picture of little chicks to be born as they are popping out of their shells. There is no mother around to protect them, but the unborn chicks know that their Creator is here to burst them into life. Somehow the chicks know that God will keep them in the hollow of His hand as they are beginning to face their new world experience.
I hear the Lord say:” When you overcome doubt and fear in your life with My faith I will clothe you with my love and protection.”
